Eco-Friendly Home Tips and Save Money on Your Hawaiian Electric Company Bill! | April 2024

Save Money on your HECO Bill w/ Time of Use

Time of Use (TOU), a Hawaiian Electric Co (HECO) program that saves you money when you use more of your electricity during the day and after 9 pm at night. To be eligible for lower rates, you must enroll at hawaiianelectric.com/shiftandsave. It is simple. I just enrolled for our household. Wow! Our bill would have been reduced by $54 last month. The lowest rate per kilowatt hour occurs between 9 am and 5 pm every day. So do your laundry during the daytime and you will already be a winner!

On a Roll to Saving Money…Eco-Friendly Home

Here are a few tips to saving some money and making your home more sustainable

  • Switch to LED lightbulbs.
  • Cover pots and pans if possible while cooking.
  • Replace, whenever possible, paper towels with rags (i.e. old t-shirts).
  • Run dishwashers and laundry when full…and during the day whenever possible.

Changes Coming to Real Estate

You have probably seen some of the news reports about the National Association of Realtors (NAR) settlement. Beginning in July 2024, all Realtors will be required to have a signed agreement not only with our Sellers, but also with our Buyers. All commissions and fees will be negotiated separately with Sellers and Buyers. Currently, all commissions and fees are generally negotiated with the Seller. Suffice to say, there will be lots of negotiation and a little confusion. We will make it work so that we continue to have successful and pleasant transactions for both our Buyers and Seller.

Summer is heading our way and it is promising to be busy. We have some new listings and some new members of our team joining us.

As always, I love to hear from you!  All the best, Judy
