July 2023 | Millennials vs Boomers in real estate, also ways to save money and energy

What’s in Store for 2023 Real Estate?

The tight U.S. housing market is creating competition between millennials and baby boomers. Millennials have hit their peak home-buying age later in life, while many boomers live longer and move later, leading to the two generations vying for the same properties. Boomers often have a leg-up because of the equity they’ve accumulated over decades and their ability to make all-cash offers and waive contingencies. Almost a quarter of millennials who do buy homes get help from their parents, who are often boomers.

Saving Money and Saving Energy

When it is time to replace household appliances, look for those with Energy Star that use less energy and save you money.

Meanwhile, here are some tips for other savings:

  • Running full loads of laundry or dishes.
  • Turning off the drying feature on your dishwasher.
  • Washing clothes in cold water and hanging clothes out to dry in the sun.
  • Keeping the refrigerator away from direct sunlight, and setting the temperature between 36ºF and 38ºF.
  • Setting the freezer temperature between 0ºF and 5ºF
